Meet Kurt and Andrea

The Kurt and Andrea Stephenson band centers around a husband and wife bluegrass gospel duo based out of Dyersburg, TN. The couple met in 2003 in Mountain View, AR. They bring a high energy performance with some of the best bluegrass talent in the area. They draw influences from artists such as the Louvin Brothers, the Marshall Family, the Stanley Brothers, and the McGruders. You will be blessed by their positive, uplifting style of bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music.

Kurt began playing the banjo at the age of 9, receiving lessons from his father. In addition to his father, Kurt’s heroes include Earl Scruggs, Don Reno, and Ralph Stanley. Kurt’s banjo playing is the driving force behind the band’s dynamic stage performances.  Kurt has won numerous banjo contests, including multiple TN state championships and the National Bluegrass Banjo Championship held in Winfield, KS in 2010.  Kurt is also a member of the Nashville based band, High Fidelity. High Fidelity is a three time nominee for "New Artist Of The Year" by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

Andrea started playing the guitar at age 12. She spent many years performing in churches and bluegrass festivals with her family bluegrass gospel band, The Nichols Family. Andrea has been a member of many championship bluegrass bands over the years and is well respected as a guitarist by her peers.  Andrea drives the rhythm with her guitar and is the primary lead vocalist of the band.
